County Judge Mike Williams told magistrates last Thursday that a decision on a grant which would help fund the proposed widening of US 460 between Paris and Georgetown may be coming soon.
Judge Williams said that he, along with state and local officials representing Bourbon and Scott Counties made a visit to Washington, D. C. recently to meet with federal transportation officials and seek support for the grant project.
Judge Williams related meetings with Senators Mitch McConnell, Rand Paul and Congressman Andy Barr along with a meeting with U.S. Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao.
The meetings were a part of efforts to secure the grant for the widening project and were facilitated in part by advisers the fiscal court had recently retained to help secure the grant.
“The widening project would alleviate safety concerns on the highway and also improve economic development opportunities for Bourbon County,” Judge Williams said.
