Joe Albaugh

Joe Albaugh, husband of Barbara Albaugh, died peacefully at home on October 31, 2019. He was born on July 30, 1940 in Iowa City, Iowa to Rosalie Domayer Albaugh and Leonard Albaugh. Joe was a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University spending many years in law enforcement starting with the Fayette County Police Department and later the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office. He spent many years in private business, including starting the Newstand and Lottery Station, before retiring to enjoy a small farm in Bourbon County. A man of deep integrity throughout his entire life, Joe valued the truth, hard work and being of service to others until his final days.
Besides his wife of 46 years, he is survived by his children, Kim (Craig) Galvin, Sherie (Doug) Omohundro, Kristine (Darren) Lafoe and son, Jon Albaugh; five grandchildren, Alexandria (Alan) Penny, Hunter Omohundro, Noah Galvin, Evan Lafoe and Kennedy Lafoe and two great grandsons; his sister Cathy (Marvin) Haynes, sister-in-law Pat Albaugh, brother-in-law Mike Jordan; his dog BellaRose, best friend Donnie Harris and extended family from Townley Park. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Karen Jordan and brother Keith.
Visitation and Celebration of Life will be Friday, Nov. 8 from 5-8 p.m. in the Woodford Reserve Club at Kroger Field. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9 at the Church of the Annunciation in Paris followed by inurnment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Paris. In lieu of flowers, Joe asked for donations to be made to Annunciation Church Organ Restoration Fund, 1007 Main Street, Paris, KY 40361 or Bluegrass Care Navigators Therapy Dog program, 2312 Alexandria Drive, Lexington, KY 40504.
The family would like to thank Jordan Shea Mullins, his hospice nurse, who provide not only good care to him but her love during his final months.
