Helen Carol McElroy
Helen Carol McElroy, age 83, retired owner of Carol’s Beauty Shop, widow of Harold Eugene McElroy, died Saturday, June 24, 2023 at her home. She was born January 2, 1940 in Cynthiana, Kentucky, daughter of the late Clyde Wilson and Juanita Thomas Garrison Bills.
Carol was a member of the Paris Lioness Club and Paris Lions Club, performing in their annual Dixieland Show for many years; former member of a bowling league; former driver in the Powder Puff Derby; a die-hard U.K. fan; and was a member of Trinity First Church of God.
Carol is survived by a son, Geoffrey C. (Angela) Bills Sr; a daughter, Alisa (Jeffrey) Tyree; nine grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; two great, great grandchildren; and four “special great grandchildren”. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Patricia Tyree.
Visitation was 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 28, at the Hinton-Turner Funeral Home. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 29, at the funeral. Casket bearers were Geoffrey Bills Jr., Brandon Bills, Quinton Tyree, Brian Bills, Austin Bills, and John McCraffrey. Burial was in Camp Nelson National Cemetery.
