Melody “Mel” Bailey

June 16, 1952 – December 10, 2023. Zephyrhills, Florida – Mel passed away after a long illness. She was born and raised in Paris, Kentucky. After graduating from USF, she was a teacher in Pinellas County, Florida. As a teacher she touched many lives, even receiving an award from NASA during the selection process for the Challenger mission. Following her teaching career, she began another career as a Reverend with the MCCL church. Mel was an avid collector of antiques, and the keeper of the family genealogy.
Mel is survived by her wife of almost 31 years, Bonnie Blanchard; nephews, Carl and Wesley; nieces, Musa, Michelle, Mary and Meagan; as well as many Great-nieces and Nephews.
She is proceeded in death by her brother W. Kent Bailey and her parents Carl Arthur and Mary Elizabeth Brannock Bailey.
A Memorial Service will be held in Millersburg, KY in the spring, date TBD. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mel’s name can be made to Old Friends Equine.
