Katherine Jean Reid Franklin

Katherine Jean Reid Franklin, age 92, widow of James Curtis Franklin, departed this life peacefully on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at Bourbon Heights Nursing Home. Jean was born in Bourbon County on November 18, 1931, the daughter of the late Henry Clay and Lyda Johnson Reid, attended North Middletown High School, worked at Newberry’s, and Hansley Mill for a time as well as being a homemaker and helping her husband on their farm. In her spare time enjoyed crocheting and needlework and was a faithful member of Spears Mill Baptist Church for over 70 years. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Amy Ruth Mattox, Mary Emma Sams, Hazel Hudson, Helen Williams, as well as two brothers, J.V. Reid and Kenneth Reid.

Surviving are two sons, Phillip (Rhonda) Franklin, and Kenny (Cathy) Franklin. She is also survived by two grandchildren, James Clayton Franklin, Sarah Franklin; and a sister, Edith Elam.

The visitation for Katherine Jean Reid Franklin will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 8, 2024, at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home with funeral following at 1:00 p.m. officiated by Rev. Philip Ronk. Interment will follow in Paris Cemetery with casket bearers being Clayton Franklin, Danny Reid, Mike Sams, Bill Mattox, Eddie Richard, and Mark Elam. Honorary bearers are the staff members of Bourbon Heights Nursing Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial donations to Spears Mill Baptist Church, 868 Spears Mill Road, Paris, Kentucky 40361.
