Martha Jane Sweat Crutcher

Martha Jane Sweat Crutcher passed away after a short illness at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, Ky on March 23, 2024. She was born to the late James Henry Sweat and Christina Burton Sweat on June 18, 1939. Martha was a homemaker, a devoted wife and mother. She earned her GED at the age of 40 at Bourbon County School. Martha was a member of Shorter Chapel, Paris, KY. She was on the Usher Board, Sunday School Superintendent, Sunday School Teacher, Choir Member, and a Deaconess.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband of 70 years, George W. Crutcher, Sr, three sons, Lee Crutcher (Debra), George Crutcher, Jr (Judy), and Mike Crutcher (Christine), one daughter Diana Carter. Grandchildren, Cicely Stamper (Ryan), Kris Carter, George Crutcher III, Courtney Crutcher, Brittany Crutcher-Powell (Tony), Casey Crutcher. Great Grandchildren – Liam Carter-Owens, Darrius Crutcher, Brianna Crutcher, Isaiah Crutcher, and Tamara Crutcher. One sister, Peggy Brooks and one sister-in-law, Nannie Oliver. And a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, Jeffrey Wayne Crutcher, 6 siblings, 4 sisters-in-law, and 4 brothers-in-law,

Visitation was from 11:00 AM Saturday, March 30, 2024 until the hour of service 12:30 PM at Zion Baptist Church, 312 West 8th Street, Paris, KY by Rev. Anthony Gooch. Burial was in the Evergreen Memory Gardens following the service.

The funeral arrangements were entrusted to O L Hughes Funeral Home, 3rd Street, Lexington, KY.
