William Padgett, Jr.

William Padgett, Jr., a man of selfless devotion and loving kindness, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2024, in Georgetown, KY. Born on October 26, 1942, in Maysville, KY, William’s life was a testament to the enduring power of love, family, and hard work.

William, affectionately known as Bill to his friends and family, graduated from Bourbon County High School in 1960, setting the stage for a life of dedication and service. He went on to have a fulfilling career at KU Electric Company, where he retired after many years of committed service. His work ethic and involvement in the company left a lasting impression on his colleagues and those he served.

Beyond his professional life, William was a man of many interests. He found joy in the simple pleasures of yard work, a testament to his love for the outdoors and the satisfaction of a job well done. His passion for fishing and hunting spoke to his appreciation for nature and the tranquility it offered. William’s knack for tinkering with old cars, trucks, and jeeps showcased his mechanical ingenuity and patience. His love for riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle was more than a hobby; it was a reflection of his adventurous spirit and sense of freedom.

Family was the cornerstone of William’s life. He is survived by his loving daughter, Christie Dene Padgett, and her husband, Larry Dale Lemons. His legacy continues through his ten grandchildren: Leslie Dawn, Marcus, Dakota, Leandra, Morgan, Wrayann, Brooklyn, William J., Don Jr., and Austin. Each grandchild will carry forward his teachings and the unconditional love he bestowed upon them. His great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Aniyah, D’Aria, Hazel Grace, Reid, Laiden, Miller, Jayleigh, Arianna, and Walker, will grow up hearing stories of their great-grandfather’s kindness and strength.

William’s sister, Carolyn Wilkins, along with her husband, Dave, will hold dear the memories of their brother’s unwavering support and love. His presence will also be missed by his many nieces, nephews, and cousins, who found in him a figure of stability and warmth.

Preceding him in death was his beloved wife, Jewel Dene Hill Padgett, who was undoubtedly waiting with open arms. He was also predeceased by his father, William Padgett; his mother, Geneva Hinton Padgett; his three sons, Len Brooks, Don Leslie, and William Lee Padgett; and his sister, Connie Padgett. Each of them played a significant role in shaping the man he became, and their influence will continue to be felt through his enduring legacy.

William’s life was one of giving, whether it was through his time, his talents, or his unwavering support. Those who knew him will remember his selflessness, as he always put the needs of others before his own. His loving nature was evident in every relationship he nurtured, and his kindness was felt by all who had the pleasure of crossing his path.

As we bid farewell to William Padgett, Jr., we celebrate a life beautifully lived. His memory will be cherished, his lessons remembered, and his spirit will continue to guide us.
