Betty Sue Sams Harris

Betty Sue Sams Harris, a beacon of light and love to all who knew her, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2024, at the age of 54, in Lexington, Kentucky. Born on August 30, 1970, in Lexington, Kentucky, she grew up surrounded by a caring family that she adored deeply.
Betty’s life was one of genuine kindness and unwavering thoughtfulness. Her warmth radiated through her loving bond with her children, Brandon (Krystin) Cutwright and Breanna (Adam Custard) Cutwright, whose lives are a testament to her nurturing spirit. She cherished her role as a grandmother and found endless joy in the laughter and smiles of her grandchildren, Gianna Custard, Aubrey Cutwright, and Liam Cutwright. Always up for antics and snuggles, even her grand-dog Finley held a special place in her heart.
Surrounded by siblings who shared life’s ups and downs, Betty leaves behind a brother, Joe (Tracey) Sams; and sisters, Darlene Sams, Susie Hignite, and Martha (Mark) Miles. Her bond with her special friend, Buck Williams, and three special sisters, Royath “Cookie” Cutwright-Smith, Mycah Cummins, and Kary Sams was a source of laughter and support, and they, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins, will carry her memory forward.
While her early years were spent walking the halls of Harrison County High School, where she graduated, her later years were filled with simple pleasures. She relished beach getaways, the feel of a fresh manicure, the swing of a new hairstyle, and the chance to giggle and gossip on girls’ nights.
Preceding her in death were her beloved husband Harry Harris; parents, William and Mary Florence Sams; siblings Carol Sams, Chris Jackson, Arnold Sams, William Sams, Charles Sams, Andrew Hollister, and Samuel Sams.
Betty will be remembered for the love she poured into every room and the grace with which she navigated life. Her legacy of kindness, generosity, and thoughtfulness will continue to shine in the hearts of those she touched.
