Donnie Gene Spencer, age 78, husband of Betty Landrum Spencer of Paris, departed this life on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Donnie was born on August 13, 1946, the son of the late Reed and Mary Patrick Spencer, was born and raised in Jackson, Kentucky, was a high school graduate, and veteran of the United States Army, having served in Vietnam. He and Betty were married fifty-seven years, purchased a farm in Bourbon County in 1978, built the home in which they raised their two children, and lived for forty-seven wonderful years. He retired from the Trane Company after forty years of service. Donnie was a devoted family man who enjoyed spending time with his family that meant so much to him. He was a member of Bedford Acres Christian Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Ada (Joe) Robinson, Louise (Finley) Hounshell, Linda Gail (Doyle) Godsey, Shirley (Gary) Howard; brothers, Willard (Juanita) Spencer, Dean (Gloria) Spencer, Eddie Spencer, and Russell Spencer.
Along with his wife Betty, he is survived by a daughter, Kimberly Renee Spencer and fiancé Nate Dixon; son, Donnie Reed (Elizabeth) Spencer; grandchildren, Spencer Reed Richardson, Breana Renee Mills, and Ellison Hart Spencer. Also surviving is a brother, Darrell Spencer; and a sister, Rita (Doug) Morgan.
The funeral service for Donnie Gene Spencer will be at Hinton-Turner Funeral Home on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Steve Baker officiating. Interment will follow in Paris cemetery with casket bearers being Terry Landrum, Doug Morgan, Spencer Richardson, Doyle Godsey, Nate Dixon, Anthony Tincher, Clay Rudd, Robert Landrum, and Richard “Blue” Evans.
