LEXINGTON, KY – The KHSAA 2025 Clark’s Pump-N-Shop State Track & Field Championships will be held at the University of Kentucky Outdoor Track and Field Complex with the 1A meet being contested today, May 29th and the 2A meet tomorrow, May 30th, with Class 3A going at it on Saturday, May 31st.

LET’S DO THIS AGAIN – A year ago, Paris Greyhounds senior Alex Koeder, won the 1A state triple jump title while participating with the Nicholas County Bluejackets. He’ll go for his repeat today wearing a Greyhound uniform. Koeder will also participate in the high jump.

State track and field qualifiers for Paris, Bourbon County and Nicholas County are listed below with their region qualifying performances, ranking going into state, and the post time of their event heading into their respective state meet class. Paris and Nicholas will compete in 1A, while Bourbon will compete in 2A.

ESTES LOOKING TO REPEAT – Lady Colonels junior Marleigh Estes left no doubt last spring when she won the Class 2A state title in the 300-meter hurdles. Come Friday, Estes will be looking to repeat her performance from a year ago. She’ll go into the meet ranked No. 1 in her specialty event. Estes will also participate in the 100-meter low hurdles, where she’s ranked No. 2 in the event. Her third individual event will be the high jump.

Heading into this season’s state track meet ranked No. 1 are the following individuals: Bourbon County junior Marleigh Estes, the defending state champion in the 300 meter hurdles, along with Bourbon County senior Asher Mattox, the reigning runner-up, will be ranked No. 1 in the 300 meter hurdles, while Bourbon’s senior Ava Hernandez, third a year ago in the event, is ranked first in the pole vault.

Bourbon boys 4×400 relay will be the favorite, while the Bourbon girls 4×400 relay team will take to the track ranked No. 2 in the final relay of the meet.

Individuals ranked No. 2 heading into the state meet in their respective events are Estes (100m hurdles), senior Jesus Mendoza-solis (800m run), junior Addison Felty (400m dash), along with Paris’ Alex Koeder in the triple jump. Koeder is the defending state 1A champion in the event.

The only athlete to qualify to state in three individual events was Estes in the 100m hurdles, 300m hurdles, and high jump).

For the first time in the history of their program, the Paris Ladyhounds will enter the state meet qualifying for three relay events. Seventh grader Kierra Young kept a streak going for the girls’ team after qualifying to state in the 100 and 200 meter dash, two events the Ladyhounds have certainly owned over the past several years thanks to state 1A record holder Briley Cline, as well as state champion Taesha Speaks, and one must not forget the likes of Khatirah Malik, Shakila Grant and Asia Sims, who all started the Ladyhounds’ latest state sprint run.
