Joy Waddles Blevins
Joy Waddles Blevins, a beacon of kindness and unwavering faith, peacefully left this world on December 21, 2025, in Paris, Kentucky. Born in Hindman, Kentucky, on June 25, 1937, she was a cherished daughter, sister, mother, and aunt who filled the lives of those around her with love, warmth, and joy.
A long-standing member of the Old Union Christian Church, Joy’s Christian beliefs were a cornerstone of her existence, shaping her life’s actions and interactions. Her compassion and faith were evident in all her endeavours.
Joy dedicated many years of service to her position as a Teller Manager at the Members Heritage Credit Union. There, she not only managed the accounts but also the hearts of her colleagues and clients. Her kindness at work was just an extension of her character: Joy was a sanctuary of support and goodwill.
Her devotion to her family was unmatched. She is survived by her loving children, Gloria Himes, Billy Blevins, and Randy (Trish) Blevins. Her life lessons and legacy continue through them. She is also remembered by her doting sisters, Mary Wills and Zola Jennings, alongside her cherished nieces and nephews, Diane Howell, Barry Wills, Travis Turley, Tara Morrison, and Tracie Casey. Joy’s life was enriched by the close bonds she had with each one of them.
Joy was a creative soul, whose interests in gardening, mowing, crafts, singing, and making clothes brought further beauty and delight to the world. The clothes she made were threads of her love, woven into every garment. Her garden was a testament to her nurturing spirit, flourishing under her attentive care and the joyful songs that she loved to sing while among the blooms and greenery.
Her life was predeceased by her loving husband, Billy Clay Blevins, her son-in-law Doug Himes, her sister Virginia Campbell, her brother Cornice Waddles, and her dear parents, Don Waddles and Eva Pratt Waddles. They welcomed her into the heavens with open arms, reuniting their close-knit family once more.
Indeed, to speak of Joy is to speak of her kindness—a woman filled with a faith that inspired, a love that knew no bounds, and a tenderness that made her home a place of solace and harmony. Joy Waddles Blevins’ memory will be cherished and celebrated, not just for her warm smile and caring heart, but for the enduring impression she has left on each life she touched.
