Lucy’s life was a testament to her unwavering spirit and boundless love. She shared a blissful life with her devoted husband, Clarence Jones, and cherished the joy of parenting her son, Benjamin “Pooh” Smith. Her legacy will be carried on through her great-grandchildren, D.J., Daelyn, and Trinity Stringer, who will miss her deeply.
Among the many hearts she warmed are those of her five sisters, Alberta, Carol, Jennifer, Angela, and Christy, and two brothers, Ray Jean Smith and Anthony Smith. Through effervescent family gatherings and everyday moments, Lucy created an everlasting bond with her loved ones. Her nieces, nephews, and cousins, too numerous to name, also carry fond memories of her humor and compassion. Lucy now joins in peace her late parents, William Herbert Smith, Jr. and Lela Mae Johnson Smith, her granddaughter LaPorscha Stringer, and her siblings Ester “Bingo”, Sheila, and William Smith, who preceded her in death.

She retired from a fulfilling career at the University of Kentucky Medical Center Dietary Department, where she was known for her infectious smile and tireless work ethic. Her passion for caring did not cease with retirement; she continued to give her time and care to the elderly within the community, embodying the meaning of selfless service.

Her humor was the light in any room, and her kindness was a comforting blanket that knew no bounds. Friends, family, and acquaintances alike were routinely touched by her generosity of spirit.
