William Carroll Blackwell, IV, affectionately known as Willie to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2026, in Winchester, KY. Born on March 30, 1968, in Lexington, KY, he lived a life marked by kindness, humor, and an intriguing array of interests. William’s jovial spirit and compassionate heart were evident in every chapter of his life’s story.
A hardworking and skilled HVAC Technician, William took pride in his craft and was well-respected in his profession. He found joy in his work associations, forging relationships with colleagues.
William’s personal pursuits were as diverse and captivating as he was. An avid collector of arrowheads, he spent countless hours exploring the beauty of nature in his search for these historical treasures. His passion for NASCAR, particularly his admiration for Dale Earnhardt, mirrored his own adventurous spirit and tenacity. On clear nights, William could be found gazing at the stars through his telescope, a pastime that allowed him to marvel at the vastness of the universe.
A dedicated fan of both Duke basketball and Alabama football, William’s enthusiasm for sports was contagious; he enjoyed the excitement and camaraderie that came with being a part of a community of fans. This enthusiasm carried over into his personal life, where he was always ready with a good-natured joke or a fascinating story, bringing laughter and joy to those around him.
William is remembered by his daughter, Megan Blackwell, and grandchild, Kehlani Carey. His legacy also lives on through his sisters, Eva Blackwell Hall and Jennye Lynn Blackwell, his sister-in-law, Karen Blackwell, and his nephews, Clay, Ty, Casey, and Shelby Blackwell. William was preceded in death by his cherished parents, William Carroll Blackwell, Jr. and Marylan Sue Redmon Blackwell, and his dear brother, James Blackwell.
William will be dearly missed by all who knew him, but the memories of his funny anecdotes, his interesting tales, and his kind demeanor will forever be held close to their hearts. His presence enriched the lives of his family, friends, and community, and his absence will be felt.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday January 18, 2026, by Dan Graves at the Lusk-McFarland Funeral Home Chapel, 1120 Main St., Paris, KY.
Visitation was from 6-8 PM Saturday January 17, 2026, at the funeral home.
The burial took place at 10:00 AM Monday January 19, 2026, at the Clintonville Cemetery.
