Jimmy Martin Dampier
Jimmy Martin Dampier, a beloved family man, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2026, in the same small town where he was born on November 12, 1939. His life’s journey, marked by kindness, thoughtfulness, and an amiable spirit, left a warm imprint on all he encountered.
Jimmy graduated from Bourbon County High School, after which he built a fulfilling career, showcasing his dedication and work ethic. He retired as a respected Buyer at IBM and also served as a night watchman at Claiborne Farms. He was a devoted member of the Bedford Acres Christian Church, living out his faith through actions and service.
His personal interests were a reflection of his joy for life and social nature. Jimmy was an avid fisherman, reveling in the tranquility of Kentucky’s rivers and lakes. His love for golf led him to many sun-drenched mornings on the greens. Gathering around a table for spirited games of Spades and Euchre was among his favorite pastimes, appreciated by those who knew him as a kind and friendly competitor.
The legacy of Jimmy’s love and guidance continues through his four children, Marty Dampier, Debbie Clough, Sabrina (James) Cunningham, and Janis (Mike) Selvey; his cherished fourteen grandchildren, Julian, Jennifer, Jason, Sarah, Casey, Kendal, Brian, Lauren, Jamie, James, Christin, Wesley, Kaden, and Chase; and his adored twenty-four great-grandchildren. His legacy also endures in his dear sister, Kay (Billy) Purcell, his son-in-law, Shawn Robinson, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins who felt his profound influence.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his treasured wife, Mary Ruth Long Dampier; his parents, Walter Martin Dampier and Sue Ella Riggs Dampier; his dearly loved daughter, Danielle Renee Robinson; his grandson, Korey Sanford, and his brother, Kenny Dampier. These family members paved the way for Jimmy to join them in eternal rest, where they undoubtedly welcomed him with open arms.
We remember Jimmy Martin Dampier as the embodiment of a life well-lived. His presence will be deeply missed by many, but the stories of his kindness, camaraderie, and thoughtful gestures will be recounted with smiles and laughter for generations. Jimmy’s story is not one of goodbye but of a gentle ’til we meet again.
