His later years were spent in the embrace of the vibrant community of Cincinnati, Ohio, where he passed away peacefully.
Charles’s story was one rooted in family and hard work. A devoted and loving father, he leaves behind his cherished son, Kevin (Carol) Benton, who, alongside his loving wife, will carry forward his ethos of fortitude and familial dedication. Charles’s legacy continues to bloom with his two adored granddaughters, Summer Benton and Jaelin Williams, and in the eyes of his spirited great granddaughter, Kennedy Benton, who captured his heart and imagination in her youthful exuberance.
Although predeceased by his beloved wife, Phyllis Luvene Gibson Benton, who was his partner in life’s journey, and by his parents, Henry and Maxine Hackney Benton, as well as his siblings, James Wesley, Joe Marshall, Tommy Jefferson, Clifton, Dewey Benton, Alma Dean Bates, and Hilda Hill, Charles’s memory will be forever cherished and kept alive by the stories and memories shared among family and friends.
