Larry Allen Smith, age 80, of Paris, Kentucky, passed away on April 3, 2026, in Paris, Kentucky. He was born on December 15, 1945, in Loveland, Colorado, and lived a life marked by service, devotion, and quiet strength.
Larry was a kind and thoughtful man whose presence brought comfort and steadiness to those around him. He was a member of Central Baptist Church and carried his faith with him throughout his life. Those who knew him will remember his gentle spirit, his great sense of humor, he was always ready to tell a good joke, his warm heart, and the way he treated others with respect and sincerity. He was also known for his loyalty and his enduring love for the Denver Broncos, a team he followed with the enthusiasm of a true and avid fan.
He served his country honorably as a United States Army veteran and later worked as a Merchant Marine, demonstrating a lifelong commitment to duty and hard work. Larry was also proud to be a Kentucky Colonel, an honor that reflected the respect he earned in his community and among those who knew him best. His life of service stood as a testament to his character and the values he held dear.
Larry is survived by his wife, Patricia Smith; his son, Richard “Smitty” Smith; his stepchildren, Colby Frederick and Crystal Fister; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; his brother, Bob Smith and Sandy; his sister, Cheryl Hernandez and Rick; and several nephews. He cherished his family deeply and took great pride in the generations that followed him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Maysal Hensley Smith; his daughter, Tammy Smith; his grandson, Allen Racham; his great-grandson, Truman True; and his son-in-law, Rob Fister. Their memories remained close to his heart throughout his life.
Larry’s legacy will live on in the love he gave, the service he rendered, and the many lives he touched along the way. He will be remembered with affection and gratitude by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
