William Frank Ellis

William Frank Ellis, age 96, of Glasgow, DE, formerly of Richmond, VA went to be with The Lord on October 11, 2024 at Cadia Broadmeadow in Middletown, DE, with his daughters by his side.
Born in Elizabethton, TN, the son of the late Thomas Earl Ellis and Maggie Mabel Cannon, his family moved to Richmond, VA when he was a small boy. He graduated from Manchester High School and then went on to trade school. He worked at Byrd Airport as an aircraft lineman prior to being drafted into the US Army at Fort Eustis in Newport News, VA. After becoming a millwright, he and his wife Joyce traveled to seek employment in North Carolina, Florida, and then settled in Delaware. He was brought to Delaware to build the Flying A Oil Refinery at Delaware City, now known as PBF Energy. He retired from the oil refinery after 34 years.
He was an excellent mechanic working on relatives’ and friends’ cars. He was also a jack-of-all trades and built his own house where he and Joyce raised their two girls. Fishing was always a hobby; he owned several boats and camping trailers. Indian River Inlet was a favorite of the whole family. He also took Joyce and the girls camping through the U.S.A. traveling to California, and Florida several times.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Joyce Ellis. Also preceded in death by siblings: James Earl Ellis, Catherine Elizabeth Coleman, and Marion Ray Ellis and an infant son, Thomas Frank Ellis.
He is survived by his daughters: Fae Dixon (Chuck) of Middletown, DE, Cyndi Steele of Paris, KY; grandchildren: Ann Balback (Rob), Eric Robson (Tammy), Emily Blevins (Barry), Andrew Steele (Emma Bussell), Margaret Schwartz (Zack), and Richard Steele; and 7 Great Grandchildren.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 from 10-11:00 am at Beeson Funeral Home, 2053 Pulaski Highway, Newark, DE 19702. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 am at Beeson Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Gracelawn Memorial Park in New Castle, DE following the service.
