Emily Randall Colclough
Emily Randall Colclough passed away unexpectedly Monday, February 28, 2022. Born September 1, 1992, in Lexington, KY, she was a graduate of The Sayre School in Lexington where she received a College Board Advanced Placement Scholar Award as a member of The National Honor Society. She earned a Provost Scholarship to attend the University of Kentucky where she majored in History and Economics.
Emily was the daughter and Dr. George Watts Colclough and Elizabeth Mehring Colclough.
She is survived by her siblings George Dwight Colclough and his wife Anne McIntyre Colclough, Cari Minette Slatniske and her husband Andrew, Benjamin Mehring Colclough, and Eleanor Catherine Colclough; her maternal aunts Ann Mehring Schoenberg and her husband Lee, Sarah Mehring Higgins and husband Howard, Catherine Mehring Mouney and husband Don and Barbara Mehring Hagemann and husband George. Her paternal aunts are Mary Sue Colclough Mann, wife of Dr. Phillip Rogers Mann, and Dr. Anne Colclough Hawes, wife of Dr. Stephen Hawes. Emily was preceded in death by her grandparents. George Arthur and Eleanor Ochs Mehring and George Dewey and Sue Watts Colclough, Sue’s sister Dr. Jo Watts Williams and her husband William.
Emily enthusiastically garnered new friends in whom she always sustained an abiding interest. She so enjoyed being a restaurant manager because there were always new faces and personal encounters embellishing her life experience. She was the namesake of Emily Dickinson, who wrote “That it will never come again – is what makes life so sweet……unable are the loved to die, for love is immortality”.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any local Humane Society.
Services are pending at Rich and Thompson Funeral Home, West Burlington, NC, with burial to follow in the Magnolia Cemetery in Elon, NC.
The arrangements were entrusted to the Lusk-McFarland Funeral Home, 1120 Main St., Paris, KY.
