Nancye Ellen Reid Lyons

Nancye Ellen Reid Lyons, 89, wife of the late Ewell Roberts “Bud” Lyons, Sr., passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at her home in Carlisle.

Born March 22, 1934 in Nicholas County to the late Joseph A. & Catherine Flora Reid, she was a 1952 graduate of Carlisle High School, the owner of Lyons Business Services, Nicholas County Development Corporation Secretary, Nicholas County Hospital Board Secretary, a longtime Girl Scout Troop leader and Trustee of Carlisle Presbyterian Church. Nancye enjoyed camping, embroidery, cross-stitch, and listening to Bluegrass and Gospel music. She genuinely loved to work and stay busy.

Additional survivors include: four grandchildren: Seth Haney, Ross Haney, Katie (Owen) Hinton and Nathan (Sydney) Rainey; a great-grandson, Greer Hinton; a sister, Barbara Tolliver; and several nieces and nephews.

Also preceding her in death were her son, Ewell “Robbie” Lyons, Jr.; two daughters and their husbands, Marsha (Mike) Haney and Kathy Rainey (John Moore); two brothers: James “Shorty” and Maurice “Pete” Reid; and three sisters: Ada Ruth Cassity, Emogene Clinkenbeard and Josie Ratliff.

Services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 9th at Carlisle Presbyterian Church by Dr. Jack Robinson. Burial will be in Carlisle Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 5:00 P.M. Friday at the church.
